For those that have taken to time to read the about me section on this blog, or just know me well, you will know that music basically is my life. To elaborate, ever since I was a young kid music always had a profound effect on me. My Aunt Rita got me my first drumset when I was only four years old. My Mother was livid at the time, but my Dad loved that I was dedicating time to something like that so early in my life (probably because he himself is a drummer). I grew up listening to classic rock band such as The Who, The Beatles, and Tom Petty (thanks again Dad). It was not until I was in about third grade and discovered bands such as Nirvana, Green Day, and Weezer that music really took over my life. I played drums up until I was 18 and going into my first year of college. It was at that point I decided to try and learn how to play guitar; I knew that I would be bored out of my mind if I couldn't play an instrument while away at school. That was the best decision I have ever made. Playing guitar is now my favorite thing in the world to do.
Nowadays I listen to more alternative rock, as well as some punk bands. Last week I was lucky enough to see The Gaslight Anthem play in Philly with two of my friends Rj and Mike. We had never heard of the two bands opening for Gaslight, so naturally we were pessimistic and assumed they were going to be terrible. The first opener, a guy named Tim Barry, proved us wrong. As soon as this guy started signing, we all looked at each other in shock; he was excellent. My favorite part was that it was just Tim and an acoustic guitar, nothing too special. He even came in the crowd at one point to sing. His honest lyrics and ability to tell a story through songs as well as he did was something very few musicians of this generation are able to capture. So I leave you all with the best youtube video I was able to find of my favorite song Tim Barry played that night. The song is called "Prosser's Gabriel" and it is about a real life slave who is buried in Tim's hometown of Richmond, Virginia. Expect many more posts about music and youtube videos to follow.

Why is everyone obsessed with vampires?
So when I got home tonight I walked in to my family room to see my brother watching True Blood. For those of you who don't know, True Blood is one of HBO's most watched shows. I did not know much about the show until I decided to sit down and watch it. I felt like my IQ was dropping the more I watched. From the episodes I was privileged enough to see, what happens is a bunch of redneck vampires drink blood, get angry a lot, and have sex every 20 minutes or so. And I thought Twilight was stupid... I will never understand what this country's obsession with all of this vampire stuff is all about. I get the Twilight craze though... young girls who don't know what a good book is want to read about "falling in love" (I've even heard that there are grammatical errors in the books). But True Blood was downright idiotic. The worst part is that the audience of the show is mostly adults! Grown men and women actually enjoy it!

Here goes nothing...
So this is my second attempt to seriously blog. The last time turned out to be a complete failure (as those who know me can agree with). This time around I am going to literally post anything I find interesting or think readers of this blog will find entertaining. My friend Amanda put it best by saying "blogs are the new thing",especially for people in the industry of communications. Seeing how it has always been a dream of mine to be in the field of communications, I figured I should give this blogging business another shot. So here goes nothing!
